Solder bumping
JEM vertical probe cards consist of four basic components: a
probe, a guide plate, a space transformer and a PCB. The product specification
sheet can be obtained from a JEM sales representative. This product is a
cost-effective and reusable tool for building electrical circuits.
A reliable vertical probe card should be able to detect
solder bumps of all types. This is critical since many semiconductor devices
require accurate contact resistance. Moreover, probe tips become dirty and worn
and require frequent cleaning and replacement. The vertical probe card design
offers reliable contact resistance at a lower cost than conventional probes.
However, a vertical probe card requires advanced fabrication techniques and can
cost anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000. In addition, a cantilever probe card
requires frequent cleaning and maintenance, which reduces the probe tip's life.
